Ayurveda, it took me a few tries to say it right, a few months to get comfortable saying it out loud and it took me a full year to confidently say it is my lifestyle.
The word "Ayurveda" directly translates into "The science of life" but the embodiment of Ayurveda is so much more than that.
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian healing system that focuses on healing the mind, body and soul. Ayurveda looks beyond a symptomatic cover up and takes the time to learn about a whole person. It is an evidence based healing system that focuses on disease prevention and promotion of a healthy, happy and balanced state of being.
Ayurveda believes there is a root cause to all disease and our Agni (digestive fire) is of the utmost importance, our health is rooted in the strength of our Agni. Each person is governed by their own bodies constitution (Doshas) and they key is to keep yourself in balance all year round. There are 3 Doshas per your ayurvedic body type, Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Ayurvedic Practitioners heal through diet (ahara), Lifestyle (dinacharya), herbs (dravyas), Ayurvedic treatments, Yoga and Pranayama.
I often get asked... 'Is Ayurveda a religion?" In short- no. But what we do believe is that Ayurveda finds you. Ayurveda is deeply rooted and encouraging of spirituality, If you are called to it, your soul is yearning for something more and ready for a natural, healthy shift. I encourage you to follow that calling, learn more and find an Ayurvedic Practitioner that vibes with your soul.
Love & Light xoxo
